ELM Enterprise Manager 3.0 is a monitoring and management system that enables system administrators and DBAs to gauge the health of their systems at a glance. ELM Enterprise Manager enables the automation of a variety of administrative functions for Windows-based servers, as well as other TCP/IP devices and services. The product architecture is a Windows 2000 client/server application containing the ELM Server component, ELM Console component, and an independent Web-based, read-only console. The architecture also includes agent processes that perform monitoring duties.
ELM Enterprise Manager provides a variety of services: real-time performance monitoring based on the Windows Performance Monitor API, event collection and consolidation of Windows Event Logs, service monitoring, process monitoring, and strong cluster monitoring. Query-based monitoring of SQL Server is supported. So anything you can find out about SQL Server through a query is a possible monitoring and management opportunity. ELM Enterprise Manager also provides end-to-end monitoring of Microsoft Exchange Server, covering everything from performance to quality of service. And the product provides support for WMI, TCP port monitoring, and TCP/IP application-based monitoring of SNMP, syslogs, HTP/HTTPS, SMTP, POP3, FTP, and PING.
