Peersync Standard Server Licensing |
|
Note. This package is used when you do not need an additional Remote Connection License, but need the Byte level Replication of files.
PeerSync is a Peer-Level licensed tool. A full license is only required for the machine where the PeerSync application is installed. Remote connection license(s) are required for additional machines added to the synchronization/replication scenario. To our knowledge, Peer Software is the only software company on the market that offers this economical remote connection license model. All our known competitors require a full license on each machine, even if synchronization/replication is unidirectional.
There are circumstances where a PeerSync licenses is advantages or required. If you would like real-time updating on all machines in the replication/synchronization scenario, a full license is required for each machine. PeerSync needs to be installed on the source machine where the real-time changes are taking place in order to detect the changes as they occur. The following guidelines for PeerSync apply:
-PeerSync Workstation Edition will not run on a server. -All levels of PeerSync include 2 remote connection licenses. -PeerSync runs on Windows NT/2000/XP/2003.

Peersync Standard Server Remote Connection Licensing |
|
PeerSync includes 1 remote connection licenses. This gives you the ability to install PeerSync on one machine (A) and connect to two additional remote machines (B & C).
- Only one copy of PeerSync needs to be installed on the primary machine (A). No software is required on (B & C). Additional connections licenses (D, E, F) can be added for $125 each.
- From A files can be updated to B, C, D, etc. in real-time, on a timed basis, scheduled basis or on demand.
- From A files can be pulled back from or swapped between B, C, D, etc. on a timed basis, scheduled basis or on demand.
- Remote target machines B, C, D, etc. can be any network shared drive, i.e. MS Windows/ Novell/Linux (Samba)/UNIX (Samba).
- If you would like real-time monitoring on each MS Windows machine A, B, C, D, etc. a licensed copy of PeerSync needs to be installed on each machine.

Peersync Standard Server ByteReplicator option |
- A "Remote Connection License with ByteReplicator" allows PeerSync to send byte level changes from the source machine to the target without sending the entire file. The PeerSync application is installed on the source machine A, and a small application, PSListener (Required to support ByteReplicator option), is installed on the target machine (B, C, D, etc). If a file on the source is changed, PeerSync sends just the changed segments of the file.
- PeerSync allows you to adjust the block segment size. Larger segments require fewer CPU calculations with larger segments sent across the network while smaller segments means more CPU calculations with reduced bandwidth requirements.
- A Remote Connection License with ByteReplicator is required for each target machine receiving byte level changes.
- PeerSync ByteReplicator runs on Windows NT/2000/XP/2003.
- ByteReplicator option is not available when using FTP.
- You can mix and match connection licenses. For example, you can have 3 standard " Remote Connection Licenses ($125 each)" and 5 "Remote Connection Licenses with ByteReplicator ($295 each)".
- If using the "Bi-Directional Synchronization" byte level copying is from the source to the target only. If a file change is detected on the target side, the entire file will be copied back (not the byte change of the file). If you would like byte level copying in both directions, a licensed copy of PeerSync needs to be installed on both machines, and a ByteReplicator installed on both machines.

Peersync Standard Server with OpenFile Manager Embedded |
- Peer Sync copies open/in use files such as MS Word, Excel, drawing files, picture files, etc. The addition of the Embedded Open File Manager (EOFM) option allows PeerSync to copy open and locked source files (i.e. database files, SQL, Exchange, registry files, etc).
- The Embedded Open File Manager (EOFM) - a component of the Enhanced Package - runs on MS Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 Operating Systems.
- EOFM will only work on the source machine where PeerSync is installed. EOFM cannot copy open and locked files from remote machines. If you would like opened and locked files monitored on each machine A, B, C, D, etc. a licensed copy of PeerSync and the Enhanced Package needs to be installed on each machine.
- EOFM is a product of the St. Bernard Corporation.

Peersync High Volume Server Features |
- All the base features of PeerSync Server.
- Multiple Job Threads for parallel processing of jobs - this powerful feature enables both a significant increase in performance, as well as the ability to scale. Instead of running one job after another sequentially, this capability uses the full power of the operating system to start and run multiple jobs simultaneously. For example, if you were distributing software updates from one server to a hundred other servers, instead of transferring the files to one server at a time, you can initiate 100 threads at the same time, considerably speeding up the entire process.
- Bandwidth Throttling - for managing the amount of bandwidth PeerSync uses on the network.
- Multiple Copy Threads - for parallel processing of copying files.
- Multiple Multi-Threaded FTP Site Synchronization.
- Time Zone features - allow PeerSync High Volume Server to automatically determine time differences between machines involved in synchronization, and will automatically compensate for those differences during the comparison of files.
- Target File Time Change Option - allows you to apply a time delta change to files upon successful synchronization.

Peersync Enhanced Package with EOFM |
|
Embedded Open File Manager (EOFM): Allows PeerSync Software full access to key open and locked files, such as database and system files. This feature is critical in backing up files that are constantly being used. Please speak with our Sales Department if unclear as to whether or not EOFM is critical in your solution.
Remote Display:Allows for the ability to monitor PeerSync running as a service on the local machine and/or any instances of PeerSync running on machines that are connected to the local machine.
Alternate/Additional Target Path Selection: Jobs can now have alternate or additional target paths associated with the base job. This allows for the ability to redirect data on a failed connection to the base target and/or easily setup, one to many scenarios for distribution purposes.
Job Group Panes: Similar to Microsoft's Multiple Document Interface (MDI), PeerSync now contains a multi-pane interface that allows the user to organize groups of jobs (source and target pairs) by any convention necessary. User-specified tab controls allow quick transition from one group to another. The traditional job list interface is still available for those who do not need the group panes.
