In the latest version of Service Explorer, service management has been greatly improved. Here are some of the ways:
- The ability to use advanced search criteria and save and load this criteria for later use, has simplified management by allowing you to view and manage only the services you are interested in.
- Service Explorer has added the ability to manage multiple services on multiple servers simultaneously.
- Tasks scheduled using the Microsoft Task Scheduler Service can now be remotely managed using Service Explorer, making it a complete service and task management solution.
- The ability to start, stop, restart and configure multiple services on multiple platforms was added to reduce administrative time and overhead.
- Service explorer now allows you to find out what accounts are running service and how old the service account passwords are. Then it easily lets you change the passwords on these accounts to provide an enterprise wide service security initiative.
- For documentation and reporting, Service Explorer has added export functionality. This allows a list of services and all of their properties to be exported to a file.
- Service Explorer now is distributed using the Microsoft Windows Installer package format.
