Service Explorer gives you the following capabilities, all from a single management console:

• System-Wide Service/Task Searching. Service Explorer will search all of your servers for services to be managed based on multiple conditions such as service name, service description, and service account name. The search criteria used can also be saved for repeated use at a later date. This significantly reduces the time necessary to find all the appropriate servers and services to be managed.



• Comprehensive Service Account Password Security. Since service account passwords are usually the least changed (if changed at all) and have the most access, the account itself becomes insecure over time. Service Explorer equips administrators to manage the complete cycle of service account password management. Service Explorer can show you the password age for the selected service accounts, giving you the ability to change the account passwords on your domain. Once changed, you can specify the new service account passwords used to start services and tasks on multiple servers simultaneously.



• Centralized Service and Task Management. Services on multiple servers can be fully managed remotely with Service Explorer, allowing you to perform functions such as stopping, starting, restarting, pausing and continuing services. Additionally, service startup types and logon credentials can be modified. Like services, tasks scheduled on servers can be searched for and completely managed.



• Painless Removal and Installation of Services. Service Explorer removes unnecessary services you select from multiple servers across your network with the click of a button. New services can also be deployed to the servers across your network just as easily.

You can now search your network for any task or service by service/task name or account name. When a service or task that meets the search criteria is found, it is added to the results list so that you can perform operations on all the services and tasks at once.

Service Explorer requires no agents to be installed on managed systems.

Remotely Install / Remove Services
Easily install and remove Windows NT/2000 services. You can choose to remove a single service on a single system, or remove ten services on hundreds of systems in one simple operation.

View All Accounts Used On Selected Services
With the click of a button, Service Explorer allows you to see a list of all accounts used by the selected services and change the SAM password for any of those accounts without having to open User Manager.

Set the Account on any Task
Just like services, tasks run under a particular account. Service Explorer allows you to set the account name and password for any task just as you would for a service.
